Alert: Color Riot Ensues
I’m packing for my favorite show, Showtime, in High Point, NC. It is the largest decorative fabric market in the U.S. presented by the ITMA – The International Textile Market Association. I’ll be exhibiting with Classical Elements, whom I’ve been collaborating with for many years. Coincidentally, the talented owners, Leyla and Stuart Gans, are celebrating 10 years of their business at the show!
Leyla and I were thrilled when the association asked us to concept the trend pages for Showtime Magazine with a cool redesign by Julie Tullys. What follows is our collective vision on what’s bubbling up in the home dec scene, which includes of course, a healthy dollop of trimmings.
The invitation incentivized a trip to Maison Objet Paris in January (see January post), where we spotted this Du Long et Du Le` technicolor sofa above.
For the crochet trend, the Mahatsara pendant, All Roads Design wall hanging, and Munio Home basket are standouts, all handcrafted.
The Velvet Road boots stop traffic and I just love the mix of tribal textiles in this clutch by Nadia Dafri.
Dana Haim elevates pompoms to an art form while MYK Berlin fashions them as a haute cushion. Everything Boboboom makes is ahead of the curve and I’d practically trade in my car for McGuire’s lounge chair by Laura Kirar.
From cobalt to indigo, blue has risen to top billing.
You knew this was coming, but lace hair on hide? This vintage style ottoman at BerberKammlah for EJ Victor is outrageous.
Now to see what’s in my closet that is technicolor, tribal, trimmed, crochet, laser cut or cobalt. I may have to do a smidgen of shopping. Stop by and say hello at Classical Elements, we’ll be exhibiting at SMS – 536. If you are sporting trim, be ready for a close up.
Stay inspired!
